About Us

On November 18, 1956 WIKC held their first all-breed dog show at the Armory in Everett, WA. The entry was 529 dogs. As the fairgrounds grew, they built a new exhibition building (604). WIKC moved the Conformation entries to the new building and Performance events to the Horse Arena with the rolled/packed dirt floor. In 2019, Whidbey Island began a Scholarship Endowment of 25K to the WSU Veterinary Program. 2021 was a challenging and difficult year for all living with the Covid Pandemic, but a smaller show was held. Today, the Junior Showmanship entries continue to increase, and the conformation entries have held around 1,600. Supporting the AKC Canine Health Foundation has been a priority to WIKC, who has donated over the past decade approximately 25K to the CHF organization in support of canine health research.
