The Whidbey Island Kennel Club sponsors a full weekend of shows each November. It has become a destination event for dog enthusiasts from across the US and Canada because of the wide range of events offered.
We start on Friday evening with one-on-one Handling Instruction for new exhibitors or experienced exhibitors with new dogs. This is followed by a Fun Match (AKC Sanctioned B Match, a rare event these days!) for all Groups including Miscellaneous. RV Parking and Reserved Grooming spaces are available at noon on Friday.
Saturday and Sunday feature a full show each day with top judges brought in from across the country. We offer Conformation, Obedience, and Rally as licensed events. In addition, we support the National Owner Handler series and Bred By Exhibitor Group competition. As a full service show, Junior Showmanship is included. (We work with Junior Showmanship and 4-H throughout the year on a number of projects.)
Dog shows don’t run on air so we provide a variety of food Vendors to keep you fueled. (We’re a Seattle suburb so of course there are coffee vendors.) There are also a great variety of Vendors supplying dog show tack and items perfect for a little pre-holiday shopping for the dog lover in your life.
To make our show a full service event, we offer a full battery of Canine Health Clinics. The hallmark of a quality breeder is one that does the required health screens and we make it easy for you to get these done in one place.
The general public is very welcome to attend. For those who have never attended a dog show, we have AKC hand-outs available that explain how everything works in Conformation, Obedience, and Rally so you can figure out what’s going on. This is a great time to learn about breeds and talk to people who may be having litters of puppies in a breed that interests you.
